After locking in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a record-breaking $500 million extension, the Toronto Blue Jays appear ready to secure the future of another franchise cornerstone: Bo Bichette. The two-time All-Star shortstop has made his desire to stay in Toronto clear, and with both performance and loyalty on his side, an extension may be just around the corner.

In a recent interview, Bichette reaffirmed his deep-rooted commitment to the Blue Jays, while hinting at a shared vision with teammate and close friend Guerrero Jr. “My goal as a kid was always to be with an organization my whole career,” Bichette said. “Obviously, finishing [in] a winning culture with Vladdy.”

Although he emphasized that “nothing’s on the table right now,” Bichette acknowledged that he’s using this offseason to focus on the game, not contract distractions — but the sentiment is there.

Bo Bichette made his MLB debut in 2019 and quickly emerged as one of the American League’s premier hitters. He led the AL in hits in both 2021 and 2022, showcasing elite consistency at the plate. Although injuries slowed him down in 2024, Bichette has rebounded in 2025 with a strong start, posting a .295 batting average and a solid .354 OBP through the first 48 plate appearances.

At 27 years old, Bichette is entering his prime. With his resume and leadership qualities, many analysts project a contract in the range of $180–220 million over 7 or 8 years — especially if the Blue Jays hope to lock him down before he hits free agency in 2026.

Blue Jays General Manager Ross Atkins has openly confirmed that keeping Bichette in Toronto is a top priority. “It’s also our vision for them (Bo and Vladdy) to continue to play together,” Atkins said. “We will do everything in our power to see if we can line up.”

This comes just weeks after Guerrero Jr. signed his landmark 14-year deal — signaling the franchise’s intention to build long-term around their young, homegrown stars.

The timing of the extension could shape the Blue Jays’ future. With Bichette under team control through arbitration until the end of the 2025 season, Toronto has a brief window to strike a deal before competing offers come into play. Signing him now could provide payroll certainty, but letting talks linger might allow Bichette’s market value to soar if his strong 2025 continues.

Some insiders believe a 7-year deal worth roughly $200 million could be a “sweet spot” for both sides.
