BREAKING NEWS: Adam Schefter Reveals Three Teams Targeting Star WR Cooper Kupp. giang

March 15, 2025 by Giang Giang

The NFL world is on high alert after the Los Angeles Rams made the surprising decision to release veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp on Wednesday. While Kupp is no longer the record-setting, triple-crown-winning receiver he was in 2021, the 31-year-old remains a highly respected playmaker with plenty to offer a team in need of a reliable target.

Despite a modest 2024 season—where he hauled in 67 catches for 710 yards—the former Super Bowl MVP is drawing significant interest on the free-agent market.

12+ Teams Interested, with Three Frontrunners Emerging

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, at least a dozen teams have expressed interest in signing Kupp. However, three franchises stand out as potential landing spots:

  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Denver Broncos
  • New England Patriots

Seattle: A Homecoming in the Pacific Northwest?

Of the three teams mentioned, Seattle may be the most logical fit.

Kupp is a Washington state native, having played his college ball at Eastern Washington University. With the Seahawks recently parting ways with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, they have a clear need at wide receiver, making Kupp an ideal veteran addition for a team in transition under new head coach Mike Macdonald.

The idea of Kupp returning to the Pacific Northwest and serving as a veteran leader in Seattle’s locker room is certainly intriguing.

New England: Familiar Faces and System Fit

The Patriots also stand out as a possible destination, thanks in part to Kupp’s connections with key personnel in New England.

Kupp played alongside Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne at Eastern Washington, forming a strong bond during their college days. Additionally, he has ties to New England’s tight ends coach/passing game coordinator Thomas Brown, who was part of the Rams’ offensive staff from 2020 to 2022—a period when Kupp thrived under Sean McVay’s system.

With the Patriots desperately needing a veteran pass-catcher to help develop their young quarterback situation, Kupp could be a stabilizing presence in Foxborough.

Denver: A Wild-Card Option?

The Denver Broncos also made Schefter’s shortlist of teams to watch, though their situation is a bit more complicated.

While head coach Sean Payton is known for utilizing veteran receivers effectively, Denver’s quarterback uncertainty—following the departure of Russell Wilson—raises questions about whether Kupp would want to join a potential rebuild.

That said, if Denver is looking to add a reliable, high-character veteran to mentor its young receivers and new quarterback, Kupp could be an interesting fit in Payton’s offense.

Where Will Kupp Land?

With multiple teams showing serious interest, the race for Cooper Kupp is officially on. Whether he chooses a homecoming with Seattle, a familiar system in New England, or a wildcard option like Denver, one thing is clear—Kupp still has plenty to offer, and the right fit could help him revitalize his career.

Stay tuned as the Cooper Kupp sweepstakes unfold.
