BREAKING NEWS: Adam Schefter Voices Frustration Over Aaron Rodgers’ Ongoing Free Agency Drama. giang

March 15, 2025 by Giang Giang

The NFL free agency period is in full swing, with major players across the league making quick decisions about their futures. But one name remains the biggest domino left to fall—Aaron Rodgers—and ESPN insider Adam Schefter has had enough of the waiting game.

Rodgers, officially released by the New York Jets on Wednesday, is weighing his next move, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants believed to be the leading suitors for the four-time MVP quarterback. However, his indecision has left teams and analysts alike frustrated—especially Schefter.

Schefter Calls Out Rodgers’ Delay: ‘Make a Decision and Live With It’

During an appearance on the Jen, Gabe & Chewy podcast, Schefter didn’t hold back in expressing his irritation over Rodgers’ prolonged free-agency process.

“To me, this shouldn’t be that hard, right?” Schefter said. “The Steelers want you. The Giants want you. We’re seeing players across the league make decisions.”

With players across the league signing deals quickly, Schefter questioned why Rodgers is dragging his feet while teams—including Pittsburgh and New York—wait for clarity on their quarterback situation.

“Either you want to play, or you don’t. You want to play in Pittsburgh, or you don’t. You want to play in New York, or you don’t.”

Schefter even compared Rodgers’ indecision to something as simple as choosing a meal.

“Like, Chewy, what’re you going to have for lunch? You gonna make a decision, or are you gonna drag it out for four days, five days, a week? It’s not that hard. Make a decision and live with it.”

Teams Waiting on Rodgers, While Wilson Grows Impatient

The Steelers and Giants reportedly have Rodgers at the top of their quarterback wish list, but his delayed decision-making is affecting other QBs, particularly Russell Wilson.

Wilson, who spent last season as a backup for the Steelers, is now scheduling visits with the Cleveland Browns and Giants, seemingly growing impatient waiting for Rodgers to make up his mind.

While Cleveland isn’t viewed as a serious landing spot for Rodgers, the Browns have reportedly shown interest in Kirk Cousins, making Wilson a backup option for multiple teams if Rodgers continues to stall.

A History of Rodgers vs. Schefter: The Tension Continues

This isn’t the first time that Schefter and Rodgers have been at odds over the quarterback’s decision-making process.

In 2023, when Rodgers was deciding whether to retire or force a trade from the Green Bay Packers, he took issue with Schefter’s reporting.

At one point, Rodgers even texted Schefter directly, telling him:

“Lose my number. Good try tho.”

Schefter recalled the moment during an ESPN segment, explaining that he had reached out to Rodgers for confirmation about his future.

“I texted him. I say, basically: ‘Have you informed the Jets that you’d like to play there? I wanted to open it up to you,’” Schefter said.

Rodgers didn’t respond immediately, so Schefter followed up with a phone call, which went to voicemail. Minutes later, Rodgers finally replied with his now-infamous text message.

“He didn’t respond for maybe 10 minutes. So then I called the number, got sent to voicemail. Then he texts me, ‘Lose my number. Good try tho.’”

What’s Next for Rodgers?

For now, the NFL world continues to wait on Rodgers’ decision, with both the Steelers and Giants hoping to solidify their quarterback plans before the market moves on.

But as Schefter’s frustration grows, the pressure is mounting on Rodgers to finally make his move—before he leaves teams, and quarterbacks like Wilson, in limbo for too long.
