Fearless Lion’s Heroic River Rescue of Vulnerable Cubs

Photographer Pia Dierickx, from Antwerp (Belgium), captured this rare natural moment of a herd of lions fighting to cross a river occupied by crocodiles, in an animal sanctuary. Wild Okavanga Delta in Botswana.

The 48-year-old female photographer said that while she was observing and taking pictures of lionesses and their cubs walking leisurely by the river, a lioness suddenly waded into the river before the incident. Fierce battle between it and a crocodile.

“I spotted a lioness gently walking into the river, then she jumped out of the water and pounced on the crocodile. I quickly grabbed my camera and captured a unique moment of the lion fight. death and crocodiles,” Pia Dierickx told the Daily Mail.

While the lioness fought to control the ferocious crocodile, the other lionesses and their cubs swam across the river and to the other side. When she realized that the members of the herd had crossed the river safely, the lioness decided to stop fighting the crocodile and jumped ashore, with a slight wound to her mouth.
