Just one day after leaving Manchester United on loan, Ethan Ennis immediately made his mark at his new club.
Registered in the starting lineup against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy, the 19-year-old forward played the full 90 minutes and scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 for Fleetwood Town in the second half.
The situation came from Ennis’s quick follow-up finish after the opposing goalkeeper spilled the ball. His strike not only saved Fleetwood from defeat but also showcased his sharp positioning and instinctive finishing—qualities he had already demonstrated with Manchester United’s U21s, where he scored twice in two games before departing.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, forcing a penalty shootout to decide the winner. Although Ennis was unsuccessful with his attempt, he still played a part in Fleetwood’s 5-4 victory. His overall performance was positively received, highlighting his rapid adaptation to the new team.
Notably, the clash also carried a “Red Devils” flavor, as Ennis faced three former Manchester United players in Accrington Stanley’s lineup. Academy product Logan Pye provided the assist for the opening goal, Donald Love—who made his debut under Louis van Gaal—started the match, while Mark Helm scored in the shootout after coming on as a substitute.
